The Ahrens Hangar Foyer Extension is a key priority for the NAHC

The Heritage Centre urgently needs more space for memorabilia and new displays. Work has already started on the second wing of the Avro Anson, reducing room to move within the building. Extending the front of the building will create additional space and give visitors more opportunities to experience Nhill’s unique aviation history. 

The project will begin once the plans and building permits are finalised.

The extension will include a reception area with space for merchandise displays, a theatrette, an office, and storage. It will also feature a dedicated research area where family members can explore the service of relatives who were based at the WWII RAAF Base. The theatrette will be used for introductory group presentations and for visitors to watch videos about Nhill’s aviation heritage.   

The estimated cost of the extension is $360,000. Fundraising over many years has provided $270.000, leaving a shortfall of $90,000.
